About Me
Brian R. Dilworth, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. Growing up in Knoxville with a father and grandfather who were physicians, Dr. Dilworth always knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps. He chose joint replacement because he enjoys seeing his patients recover quickly and get back to the activities they never thought they’d be able to do again.
Dr. Dilworth graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a B.S. in kinesiology. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where he received the Russell Memorial Scholarship and was selected to serve on the admissions committee. He completed an orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. While in residency, Dr. Dilworth served on the House Staff Council. Dr. Dilworth completed his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the Southern Joint Replacement Institute in Nashville, Tennessee. While in Nashville, Dr. Dilworth received extensive training specifically in minimally invasive direct anterior hip replacement, partial knee replacement, outpatient joint replacement, and revision surgery. He was also trained in robotic hip and knee joint replacements, earning certifications in both procedures.
Dr. Dilworth holds active memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He has published multiple orthopaedic articles and has been a frequent presenter on the local and national level throughout his medical training.
Dr. Dilworth began practice at KOC in 2019 specifically in primary and revision total joint replacement, partial knee replacement, and fracture care around the hip and knee. He and his team are dedicated to educating and guiding patients through their entire journey to recovery. Dr. Dilworth believes that it is important to work together with his patients to formulate a custom treatment plan that best fits their individual needs.
Dr. Dilworth and his wife Brittany are proud parents of three children. In his free time he enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, playing golf, being on the lake with family and friends, traveling with his wife, and anything related to college sports.
