Location

Feel right at home in Knoxville, Tennessee with its small-town allure but big city opportunities. Located on the Tennessee River with the Great Smoky Mountains as a backdrop, Knoxville is home to a vibrant downtown area anchored by Market Square and its wonderful local restaurants and boutiques. Revitalized historic neighborhoods dot the downtown landscape. Knoxville is the largest city in East TN and the 3rd largest city in the state, and within day’s drive to over half of the continental United States.

Culture

Knoxville is an incredible combination of big city excitement and small town southern charm. Financially and academically, Knoxville is a smart place to call home. The cost of living is 15% below the national average and Tennessee does not have a state income tax. Public schools are excellent, with several Knoxville city schools ranking in the list of top ten schools statewide. Private K-12 schools, including Christian, Catholic and Montessori schools are also available. Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee and numerous community colleges and technical programs. And the Tennessee Hope Scholarship will pay for the first two years of college for students who meet the program’s academic standards.

Activities

For outdoor enthusiasts, opportunities abound with numerous greenways and areas like the Urban Wilderness, a 1,000-acre downtown retreat along the Tennessee River. Opportunities for hiking, mountain and road biking, camping, and water activities are at every turn in Knoxville.  For those even more adventurous, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is less than a hour away.  Throughout Knoxville’s downtown district, residents and visitors will find walkable streets leading to vibrant murals, local music, historic sites, art museums, and parks.  It’s no surprise, U.S. News and World Reports ranked the “Scruffy City” as one of the top 100 best places to live in the country.
