Chad Clabough is the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Covenant Health. Since joining the organization in 1996, he has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in risk management, risk finance, public policy, managed care and network development.
Clabough is responsible for oversight and direction of payer strategies and value-based contracting for all Covenant hospitals, physicians and other providers. He oversees the risk finance function, which consists of a portfolio of insurance coverages, and a claims function which oversees management of workers compensation claims. He leads numerous network development projects to expand Covenant Health’s network of providers, including hospitals, surgery centers, urgent care, and more. Clabough has additional leadership responsibilities for governmental relations and properties, including construction and plant engineering. He also directs Covenant Health’s population health strategy, which works directly with employers to improve the health of their employees.
Clabough currently services on several joint venture boards and previously served on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Knoxville and the Hospital Alliance of Tennessee. He also served on the Workers Compensation Medical Cost Containment Committee for the State of Tennessee during the implementation of a State Fee Schedule for workers compensation. Clabough was in the inaugural class of the Knoxville Business Journal’s top “40 Under 40.”
Clabough received his bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA with a concentration in finance and marketing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a life-long East Tennessean. He and his wife have two children.
