It’s a girl! Cumberland Welcomes 2025 New Year’s Baby

Cumberland Medical Center recently welcomed the birth of the community’s first 2025 New Year’s Baby. Olivia Lynn Morrison was born on Wednesday, January 1 at 1:40 a.m. to proud parents Destiny and Skyler of Pikeville.

Baby Olivia weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 inches long.

“We are proud to help families welcome babies into the world, close to home,” said Randy Davis, president and chief administrative officer of Cumberland Medical Center. “Our team is exceptional.”

As the 2025 New Year’s Baby, the family received a celebratory gift basket.

Strength and Expertise

Last year, CMC delivered 700 babies. Cumberland maternity suites provide families with a warm and welcoming environment and is a Blue Distinction Center+ in Maternity Care from Blue Cross Blue Shield.

CMC was one of eleven hospitals state-wide to be awarded a “BEST for Babies” hospital by the Tennessee Hospital Association and Tennessee Department of Health in 2022.  

Free Childbirth Classes

CMC offers free childbirth classes for those who are expecting to learn about the signs of labor, relaxation breathing techniques, and infant care. The sessions also cover breast and bottle feeding to help guarantee their baby gets the best nutritional start.

Participants can choose from attending a three-week evening class series from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the following Tuesdays:

  • February  4, 11 and 18
  • April 8, 15 and 22
  • June 3, 10 and 17
  • August 12, 19 and 26
  • October 14, 21 and 28
  • December 2, 9 and 16
