Covenant Health Achieves Exceptional IT Recognition
First health system in Tennessee to have dual Stage 7 validations from HIMSS
Knoxville, Tenn. – August 2022 – Covenant Health has achieved Stage 7 validation in two digital maturity levels from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). HIMSS is a nonprofit global advisor, thought leader and member-based society with expertise in health innovation, public policy, workforce development, research and digital health transformation.
Covenant Health is the first health system in Tennessee to have successfully completed Stage 7 validation for designation in both the hospital EMRAM (Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model) and ambulatory O-EMRAM categories.
The Stage 7 digital maturity level is the highest maturity level measuring clinical outcomes, patient engagement and clinical use of electronic medical record technology to strengthen organizational performance and health outcomes across patient populations.
During the validation event, HIMSS conducted multidisciplinary interviews with clinical staff to hear firsthand how implemented technology supports patient safety and effective clinical workflows. Covenant Health also presented a number of case studies to demonstrate its qualifications for Stage 7 validation.
The achievement of Stage 7 validations in both hospital and ambulatory areas makes Covenant Health part of an elite group — roughly only 15 percent of hospitals and health systems across the country have achieved this dual recognition. The designations will be valid for three years.
Covenant Health will be recognized as one of the honorees at the 2023 Annual Conference and Exhibition of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Security in Chicago next spring.
