Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home is Renamed LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center

Beginning in August, Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home will be known as LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center. The name change is intended to better communicate the facility’s affiliation with LeConte Medical Center and reflect the short-term rehabilitation and strength reconditioning services offered to patients after surgery or prolonged illness.

The name change comes after LeConte Medical Center launched a campaign in fall of 2019 encouraging the community to vote on potential new names. ”LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center” was chosen based on the number of votes and on feedback from leadership at the hospital and Covenant Health.

“For more than 30 years Sevier County has counted on us to care for their loved ones, and our commitment to excellent care will continue with a new name,” said Leo Malenchii, administrator at LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center. “We are so much more than just a nursing home, and our new name reflects that.”

LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center is a 54-bed facility that provides long-term residential care and short-stay care for those needing additional rehabilitation or recuperation after a hospital stay. The facility has registered nurses, LPNs and certified nursing assistants available to care for patients 24 hours a day, along with therapy by licensed physical, speech and occupational therapists. LeConte Health and Rehabilitation Center is recognized by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services as a five-star facility, the highest rating possible, which indicates above-level care in terms of quality and staffing.
