Welcome to Our New Emotional Intelligence Quick Tip Series
As we travel through life we encounter people of all ages, backgrounds, races, religions, politics, and more. The diversity and variety of people is endless. How we get along with all of these people is ultimately up to us.
Throughout my life I have known very young people that were very mature – they had an empathy for others and were able to talk to anyone of any age. At the same time, I’ve known people in their eighties that had absolutely no idea that their poor behavior pushed people away from them – and yet they were lonely. What makes the difference?
It has absolutely nothing to do with where you went to school, how much money you have, or what your job title is. It is simply the choice and deliberate action of looking outside oneself and noticing others, then truly listening to them, and engaging in a friendship. It is your level of emotional intelligence.
We’re going to be focusing on the skills and components that make up emotional intelligence in 2021. You’ll notice a featured article in your e-mail alternating weeks of the LLD Quick Tips. We hope you’ll join us on our journey as we do some self-reflection and make deliberate decisions to change our habits for the better.
