Log in to My Covenant HealthCongratulations to Billie Stamper, our most recent DAISY award winner! Billie, a pulmonary nurse, was nominated by a patient’s granddaughter for the compassion she and her family received during the recent passing of her grandmother.
Her nominator said, “I will never forget her calming presence. As a nurse myself, it was hard not to “fix it” but as my Mamaw became unresponsive, I knew we had to honor her wishes as a DNR. My family arrived and Billie gave us time alone with Mamaw and was just so respectful. I was able to hold her hand as she drew her last breath with her family around her. Billie came in and was extremely kind and respectful. We never once felt rushed to leave and she waited until my mom was ready to leave to do the necessary paperwork. Billie just hugged us and gave us her condolences. The care we received has restored my faith in nursing. I will never forget how loved our family felt by a “stranger.”
